Readable resources
We list CPU, memory, storage and network together, and explain the difference between virtual and physical servers.
About GLWS
GLWS (Global Layer Wholesale Services) puts servers, application advice and Linux guides in one place. Start with what you want to run, pick the resources, then plan how you will look after it.
A price is only the start of a hosting decision.
A hosting decision often begins with a price and ends with a list of questions. How much memory does the application need? Who handles updates? Where should backups live? We organise our plans and guides around those questions.
The terminal look is deliberate. This site is built for curious operators who want to know what happens behind a button, so our application pages and beginner guides give you somewhere practical to keep learning.
OUR APPROACH
Keep the specification readable, the setup deliberate and the recovery plan available. Every environment deserves more thought than a headline price.
The business model behind the price.
GLWS stands for Global Layer Wholesale Services. We work on a small margin per server and rely on volume, which is how plans start at £0.99 a month.
A wholesale model only works when the range of plans stays simple, the specifications are published and the resources are described plainly. That is why this site compares CPU, memory, storage and transfer side by side.
HOW IT WORKS
Each server contributes a little. Scale spreads the fixed costs of running the network, so the price you see stays close to the cost of delivering it.
What is on this website today.
Three principles behind this site.
We list CPU, memory, storage and network together, and explain the difference between virtual and physical servers.
Our guides use real commands, with checks and ways to recover. Application pages link to each publisher's own documentation.
We do not publish invented statistics, and we say plainly what a plan includes and what it does not.
